I had always wanted to make beautiful dresses for my girls for this very especial Sunday, but I always run out time cause I am such a procrastinator! I actually cut out this dresses last year before Easter , but I was working so my time was even shorter than now.
This year I took out the cut out dresses and try to start early on them, but of course I did not! I started last Monday. Anyway, I realized how important it is to use a pattern, I did not for this dress, I had it in my mind and I cut it as I thought it would look like on the girls. They had to try them on several times this week and Estrella was getting anxious to wear her princess dress. But it took me longer since I had not cut them out to their measurements. Sometimes I wish I do not guess so much when I am sewing, I know I will make better things if I do measure!! and I will save so much time!!! grrrrrr!!!
They are exactly the same, just different colors and Isabella's had one less ruffle than Estrella's. The sleeves are a copy of one of Isabella's dress, I love them, they look like petals, I didn't give my husband instructions on what to take pictures of, so he didn't take pictures of just the sleeves. But they are cute, they are easy to sew as well, I think that will be my first tutorial, petal sleeves.
The ribbons are from some presents I got sometime when I was a teacher. The fabric for each dress is left overs from my wedding. I got a bunch of quilt fabric squares so my guess could write something for us and I am planning (still) to make a quilt with them. Someday!! So this are the left overs.
This is how Estrella's dress looks like in the back as well, just the bow is bigger. The buttons are little hearts, The pink fabric in Estrella's dress has pink hearts, so the buttons are like that. They are actually snaps, I just sew the buttons on top. (tricky me!) I was planning on making matching headbands but of course no time!
I am proud of this dresses for one reason, when Isabella put it on she started jumping and smiling and said: "Daddy look at me I look beautiful as a princess!!" When Estrella's put on hers she said: "Mami, I've never seen a most beautiful dress, I am sure I look like Cinderella!" that was my reward I need no more.
