BOYS, BOYS, BOYS!!

I love boys!! I want to have one in my house, well a little version of the big version that I already have!! he he he! This is my first creation ever for boys!!

Thanks to Dana @ Made and her 90 minute shirt. It did NOT take me 90 minutes though, it took me a week!! he he he, I had to do and undo many times. But I think they look ok.
So here is the story of this shirts. My very good friend has the most adorable, handsome little boy I've ever seen, I just want to take him home every time I see him. She is also having another baby boy. So I wanted to make something especial for her and her little boys, but I didn't know what to make with my knitting needles, so I remember seeing the shirt at Made and decided to give it a try.
I didn't have a pattern cause I did not have a onesie that I could made into a pattern, (well I didn't really want to reap up one of them) so I kind of guess, I know bad girl! this was a problem because I ended up with a very small set of sleeves, thank goodness I was going to make a onesie. So I grab one of my girls shirts and copy the sleeves from it. They turn out ok. I also learned from my mother-in-law that when you are sewing ribbing on sleeves you always do it with with zig-zag because it makes it easier to stretch.
I bought the appliqué at Jo-Anns Fabrics. It is an iron on one and it was super easy to do. Then I wrote the letters with a fabric marker.

The onesie was kind of hard maybe because it is little. By the time I was done with the shirt I had decided that I was going to turn a onesie into a pattern so I could have better results. So I did, and I did have better results, but I had a hard time sewing the sleeves and having those little things at the same level. Notice the uneveness (is that a word??) of them, I tried, I really did!!!
Anyway, I did the same with the appliqué and the letters and I think it looks kind of cute.
As soon as she can take pictures of her boys on their matching shirts I will post them for you to see how they look on. What do you think? should we try another boy shirt? I want to try something I saw at I am momma hear me roar, she has the best ideas for decorating boys t-shirts.
